His compositions achieve a distinctive expressiveness that connects powerfully with both performers and listeners worldwide.
His works appear regularly on international concert and competition programs. Sheldon maintains an active schedule of commissions while producing multiple publications for concert band annually. He has conducted his compositions in renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
As a guest conductor, Sheldon frequently leads All-State and Regional Honor Bands across North America and internationally. He serves as a clinician and educator, presenting at colleges, universities, and state music education conferences. Parks Award for Leadership in Music Education from the National Association for Music Education and Music For All. He has received honorary recognition from five state governors and a Certificate of Appreciation from former President Ronald Reagan. Dr. Boonshaft earned his Bachelor of Music (Summa Cum Laude), Master of Music Education in Conducting, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees, and completed specialized training at the Kodály Musical Training Institute.
