Teachers keep coming back to Christmas Kallikantzaros by Anthony Susi and Surfin' Santa by Heather Hoefle for their grade 2-3 orchestras, both reliable choices for winter programs. Mekel Rogers' Star Of County Down remains widely adopted at the grade 1 level, and Brian Bankston's I Saw Three Ships has found a steady place in elementary string programs.

Mekel Rogers added Procession Of The Cavaliers and The King's Jester in August 2025, both string orchestra works. Brian Bankston's A Midwinter Daydream also arrived this year, continuing his track record with accessible seasonal material.

Robert W. Smith brings over 400 publications to his name and is one of the most recorded composers of concert band and orchestral music in the country. His work spans symphony to light concert music, all grounded in his degrees from Troy State University and the University of Miami. He contributes 24 titles to this collection, including A Minor Holiday Celebration.

Mekel Rogers is a prolific voice here with 20 titles, including the consistently popular Star Of County Down and the newly released Procession Of The Cavaliers. His strength is accessible folk and traditional arrangements for developing orchestras.

Brian Bankston's 17 titles include the grade 1 favorite I Saw Three Ships and the recently added A Midwinter Daydream, showing his gift for writing seasonal and programmatic material that younger ensembles can handle with confidence.

Jesselyn Joy Dudinsky contributes 14 titles to the collection, with Mystic Flight among her most-used works. Her pieces tend toward programmatic writing that gives young orchestras a story to tell while they play.
