Robert Sheldon stands among today's most frequently performed composers of wind band repertoire. He is the lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band, and his compositions are heard in concert halls and competitions worldwide. His music speaks to both ensembles and audiences through its expressive depth and accessibility.
Sheldon's achievements have earned him recognition from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. He maintains an active schedule accepting commissions and producing new concert band publications each year. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music honored him with a doctorate degree.
As a clinician and guest conductor, Sheldon works extensively with All-State and Regional Honor Bands across the country and internationally.
