Robert Sheldon stands among today's most widely performed composers of wind band literature. He serves as lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and has earned recognition through prestigious organizations including the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. His compositions reach audiences and ensembles across the globe, appearing regularly on international concert and contest programs.
Sheldon maintains an active schedule accepting commissions and producing new concert band publications throughout the year. He frequently guests conduct All-State and Regional Honor Bands while serving as a music education clinician at colleges, universities, and state music education conferences. His conducting and teaching work has taken him across the United States and internationally to Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China.
His compositions have been performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Symphony Hall in Boston, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
