Robert Sheldon stands among today's most widely performed composers of wind band music. He is the lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and has earned numerous accolades including awards from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. His compositions reach ensembles and audiences worldwide, appearing regularly on international concert and contest programs.
Sheldon maintains an active schedule accepting commissions and publishing new works for concert band annually. He serves as guest conductor for All-State and Regional Honor Bands while presenting clinics and seminars at universities and state music education conferences across the country. His conducting and educational work has taken him throughout the United States and internationally to Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China.
His performances have graced some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Symphony Hall in Boston, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
