His compositions are performed internationally and regularly appear on concert and contest programs worldwide.
Sheldon's accolades include prestigious awards from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. His works have been performed in major concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music bestowed upon him an honorary doctorate.
