His compositions connect powerfully with musicians and listeners, reaching audiences across the globe and appearing regularly on international concert and competition programs.
Sheldon maintains an active schedule accepting commissions and releasing new concert band publications throughout each year. He frequently guest conducts All-State and Regional Honor Bands while also serving as a clinician at colleges, universities, and state music education conferences. Wright Award of Distinction from Women Band Directors International, and three honorary life memberships in the Tri-M Music Honor Society. His work has also earned official proclamations from five state governors and recognition from former Presidents Reagan and Clinton, as well as performances for former President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush and former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Boonshaft holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree, a Master of Music Education in Conducting, and a Bachelor of Music degree (Summa Cum Laude), along with a Certificate from the Kodály Musical Training Institute.
