About the Authors
Mark Williams stands as a leading composer specializing in school band and orchestral music. He co-authored the widely-used Accent on Achievement Band Method and produced over 200 published compositions throughout his career. His expertise in elementary band instruction shaped music education in Washington state for many years.
Williams earned recognition through numerous prestigious honors, including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. His work as a clinician and guest conductor took him across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his knowledge with musicians nationwide.
A Chicago native who grew up in Spokane, Williams holds degrees from Eastern Washington University in both education and music. Beyond composing and conducting, he maintained an active performance schedule as a bassoon player and served as Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His military service included work as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band.
