About the Authors
Mark Williams stands as one of the most celebrated composers dedicated to school band and orchestral music. A Chicago native who settled in Spokane, Washington, he spent his career developing young musicians through teaching and creating accessible yet engaging works for student performers. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University.
Williams authored over 200 published compositions and co-created the Accent on Achievement Band Method, establishing himself as a major voice in music education. His achievements earned recognition including the Gralia Competition from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. As both a woodwind performer and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band, he brought practical experience to his compositional work.
Throughout his career, Williams worked as a clinician and guest conductor across North America and Australia, sharing his expertise in 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and beyond. He performed regularly on bassoon and held the position of Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band alongside his extensive writing and traveling schedule.
