About the Authors
Mark Williams stands among the most celebrated composers for school bands and orchestras. He co-authored the widely used Accent on Achievement Band Method and produced more than 200 published compositions across multiple genres. His expertise in elementary band instruction came through extensive teaching experience throughout Washington state.
Williams's career brought him recognition across North America and beyond. He traveled as a clinician and guest conductor to 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his knowledge with music educators and students. His accomplishments earned him the Gralia Competition award from the Western International Band Clinic along with several ASCAP Special Awards for his compositional work.
A native of Chicago who established his career in Spokane, Williams held both a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Education from Eastern Washington University. Beyond composing, he performed bassoon professionally and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. He also worked as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band during his career.
