About the Authors
Mark Williams stands as a leading composer specializing in works for school bands and orchestras. He co-authored the widely used Accent on Achievement Band Method and produced over 200 published compositions throughout his career. His background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University, along with service as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band.
Williams built his teaching career in Washington state, where he focused on elementary band instruction for many years. As a clinician and guest conductor, he shared his expertise across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. His compositions earned significant recognition, including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards.
Beyond composing and conducting, Williams remained an active bassoon performer. He served as Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band while maintaining his extensive travel and writing commitments. A Chicago native, he developed much of his musical career in Spokane, Washington.
