About the Authors
Mark Williams stands as a leading composer specializing in works for school bands and orchestras. A native of Chicago who came of age in Spokane, Washington, he spent his career advancing music education through both teaching and composition. His co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method reflects his commitment to developing quality instructional materials for young musicians.
Williams published more than 200 compositions across band, orchestra, and choral settings, earning significant recognition in the field. His accolades include the Gralia Competition from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University and previously served as woodwind performer and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band.
Throughout his career, Williams worked extensively as a clinician and guest conductor, bringing his expertise to 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. His long tenure teaching music in Washington schools centered on elementary band instruction. Beyond his compositional and educational work, he performed regularly on bassoon and directed the Spokane British Brass Band as both conductor and artistic director.
