About the Authors
Mark Williams stands among the most distinguished composers specializing in school band and orchestral music. A Chicago native who made his home in Spokane, Washington, he brought extensive teaching experience to his prolific career, having spent many years in Washington's music classrooms with a focus on elementary band instruction. Williams held both a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Education from Eastern Washington University.
His compositional output encompasses more than 200 published works across band, orchestra, and choral genres. He co-authored the influential Accent on Achievement Band Method and received recognition through numerous accolades, including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. His professional experience also included service as a woodwind performer and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band.
As a clinician and guest conductor, Williams traveled extensively throughout North America and beyond, visiting 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. He maintained an active performance schedule as a bassoon player and served as Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band.
