About the Authors
Mark Williams stands among the most celebrated composers for school bands and orchestras. He co-authored the widely used Accent on Achievement Band Method and amassed over 200 published compositions. His expertise spans works for band, orchestra, and choir, establishing him as a prolific and versatile voice in music education.
Throughout his career, Williams earned significant recognition including the Gralia Competition from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. He holds degrees in music education from Eastern Washington University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education. His background also includes service as a woodwind performer and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band.
As a clinician and guest conductor, Williams traveled extensively across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his expertise with musicians nationwide. Based in Washington State for much of his career, he taught elementary band and later served as conductor and artistic director of the Spokane British Brass Band while maintaining his own performing schedule on bassoon.
