About the Authors
Mark Williams stands among the most celebrated composers writing for school bands and orchestras. He co-authored the widely used Accent on Achievement Band Method and produced over 200 published compositions throughout his career. His work spans band, orchestra, and choral genres, establishing him as a prolific voice in music education.
Williams earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University. His accolades include the Gralia Competition award from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards recognizing his contributions to the field. Early in his career, he performed as a woodwind specialist and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band.
As a clinician and guest conductor, Williams traveled extensively across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his expertise with musicians worldwide. Based in Spokane, Washington, where he grew up after his birth in Chicago, he spent many years teaching music in Washington schools with a focus on elementary band instruction. He maintained an active performance schedule on bassoon and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band.
