About the Authors
Mark Williams is a distinguished composer who has made significant contributions to school band and orchestra repertoire. A Chicago native who established his career in Spokane, Washington, he spent many years teaching music in the state, with particular emphasis on elementary band instruction. Williams holds degrees in music education from Eastern Washington University, including both a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Education.
His catalog includes over 200 published compositions across band, orchestra, and choral settings. Williams is perhaps best known as co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, an influential educational resource. His awards include the Gralia Competition from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards, recognizing his impact on the field.
Beyond composing and teaching, Williams has maintained an active schedule as a clinician and guest conductor, presenting to audiences across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. He served as a woodwind performer and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band and continues to perform as a bassoon player. Additionally, Williams has led the Spokane British Brass Band in his capacity as conductor and artistic director.
