About the Authors
Mark Williams established himself as a leading composer specializing in works for school bands and orchestras. A Chicago native who spent his formative years in Spokane, Washington, he built an extensive catalog of more than 200 published compositions. He is perhaps best known as co-author of the Accent on Achievement Band Method, a foundational resource in music education.
Throughout his career, Williams earned recognition for his compositional talents and contributions to the field. His honors include the Gralia Competition from the Western International Band Clinic and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. He holds degrees from Eastern Washington University, including a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Education, and previously served as a woodwind performer and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band.
Williams maintained an active presence in American music education as both clinician and guest conductor, visiting 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. Based in Washington, where he taught music for many years with a focus on elementary band, he also performed regularly as a bassoon player and served as conductor and artistic director of the Spokane British Brass Band.
