Composer & Author Spotlight

Dennis Alexander has published over 400 titles with Alfred since 1986, making him one of the world's most prolific composers of educational piano music. His long tenure teaching piano pedagogy at the University of Montana shaped his understanding of how students learn at every level, and that foundation runs through every book in this series.

Victoria McArthur directed piano pedagogy at Florida State University and served as Keyboard Editor for Alfred Music, bringing both classroom experience and editorial rigor to the Premier Course. Her co-authorship of this method reflects decades spent training teachers and observing what works in real studio and classroom settings.

Martha Mier is internationally recognized for her educational piano music, with compositions that have reached students worldwide. Her work in the Jazz, Rags & Blues series and Romantic Impressions series shows her gift for making genuine musicianship accessible to young learners.

Gayle Kowalchyk taught class piano, piano pedagogy, and private piano at California State University, Northridge, and brings classroom-tested approaches to student materials. Her credentials in both performance and pedagogy ensure the course balances technical skill with musical understanding.
