About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over three decades, first as Director of School Choral and Vocal Publications at major educational publishers and now as an independent composer and clinician. Her catalog exceeds 600 choral works and 75 musicals, earning her annual ASCAP Special Music Awards since 1987. She has conducted honor choirs at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, building a reputation for integrating meaningful movement into choral performance.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976) and the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979). She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In 2021, she received Distinguished Alumna Awards from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College. She and her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse, reside in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
