About the Authors
Mark Williams stands among the most accomplished composers dedicated to school band and orchestral music. A Chicago native who spent his formative years in Spokane, Washington, he built a distinguished career rooted in music education. Williams earned both his Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University and performed as a woodwind musician and arranger with the 560th Air Force Band.
Throughout his career, Williams created over 200 published compositions across bands, orchestras, and choral ensembles. He co-authored the widely used Accent on Achievement Band Method and garnered significant recognition through awards including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. His teaching tenure in Washington schools focused particularly on elementary band instruction.
As a clinician and guest conductor, Williams traveled extensively across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, sharing his expertise with music programs nationwide. Beyond composing and conducting, he maintained an active performance schedule on bassoon and served as Conductor and Artistic Director for the Spokane British Brass Band.
