Suzuki Core Method Books

Teachers rely most heavily on Suzuki Violin School Volumes 1, 2, and 3, which anchor the curriculum for beginning and developing players. Shinichi Suzuki created the method that bears his name, establishing a pedagogical philosophy centered on listening, rote learning, and parental involvement that has shaped instrumental music instruction worldwide. His violin materials remain the most widely adopted entry point for young string players.

Doris Preucil is Director Emeritus of the Preucil School of Music and an honors graduate of Eastman. A former violinist with the Washington National Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic, she has taught at Western Illinois University, the University of Northern Iowa, and Interlochen Arts Camp. Her work adapting Suzuki materials for viola brings deep performance and pedagogical experience to her editions.
