Suzuki Core Method Books

Teachers keep coming back to Shinichi Suzuki's Violin School volumes, particularly Volume 1, which has become the standard entry point for young string players. The Cello School series (Volumes 1, 2, and 3) is equally popular, as is the Piano School International Edition Volume 1. These titles work because they combine carefully sequenced repertoire with pedagogical clarity that supports both private lessons and group classes.

Recent additions include Suzuki Flute School Volume 2 with online audio, new Guitar School Volume 1 with online audio (published July 2025), and digital recordings of Piano School Volumes 3, 4, and 6 performed by William Aide, giving teachers more flexibility in how they integrate audio into their instruction.

Shinichi Suzuki created the methodological foundation for this entire collection. His Violin School series dominates the catalog and remains the touchstone for sequential, ear-training-based instruction across all instruments represented here. Seizo Azuma and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi bring performance credibility to the piano and cello series respectively, both recognized soloists whose recorded interpretations provide students with authentic models to follow. Doris Preucil, founder of the Preucil School of Music and a violinist with the Washington National Symphony and Rochester Philharmonic, brought her decades of teaching experience to the Viola School series.
