Sound Innovations

Teachers keep coming back to Sound Innovations for String Orchestra, Book 2 across all string parts, as well as the concert band Book 2 series for trumpet, clarinet, and flute. Peter Boonshaft's Ensemble Development for Intermediate Concert Band works alongside these core books to deepen musicianship. The series spans from very early Grade 1 through intermediate levels, making it easy to place students where they need to be.

Bob Phillips is the architect of the Sound Innovations string series at all six levels. A pedagogue and conductor renowned for his work in large group string education, Phillips has authored over 25 book series performed by thousands of string students annually. His approach balances technique with musicality across all grade levels.

Robert Sheldon leads the concert band side of Sound Innovations and is among the most performed composers of wind band music today. His work with the Sound Innovations series reflects his broader reputation for compositions that resonate with both student ensembles and audiences, earning recognition from the American School Band Director's Association and ASCAP.

Peter Boonshaft brings a distinctive voice to ensemble development materials. As Director of Education for Jupiter Band Instruments and the first recipient of the George M. Parks Award for Leadership in Music Education, Boonshaft has shaped how music educators approach intermediate-level instruction through both published materials and his ongoing work in the field.
