About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for decades through her compositions, conducting, and leadership in music education. A recipient of the ASCAP Special Music Award every year since 1987, she has published over 600 choral works and 75 larger musicals and songbooks. Her conducting has led honor choirs at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and she spent more than thirty years directing school choral and vocal publications at major educational publishers, including her tenure as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music.
Albrecht earned her B.A. in Music and Theater from Rollins College (1976) and continued her studies at the University of Miami, where she received an M.A. in Drama (1977) and an M.M. in Accompanying (1979). She has taught in the music departments at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In recognition of her contributions to education and leadership, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
