About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped school and church choral music for over three decades, first as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music and continuing as a prolific composer with more than 600 published works. A conductor and clinician known for integrating movement into choral performance, she has led honor choirs at major venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. Since 1987, she has received annual ASCAP Special Music Awards, and her songbooks and musicals remain staples in educational choral programs nationwide.

Albrecht earned her B.A. in Music and Theater from Rollins College, then pursued advanced degrees at the University of Miami, where she completed an M.A. in Drama and an M.M. in Accompanying. Her work reflects deep training in both music and performance pedagogy. She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College, and resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees.
