Amy F. Bernon

Amy F. Bernon grew up in Syracuse, New York, where she developed her musical voice through piano, singing, and composition during long winters. She completed degrees at the Hartt School and Yale University School of Music, studying composition with a distinguished group that included Martin Bresnick, Robert Carl, Jacob Druckman, and Libby Larsen.

Bernon has spent her career teaching music and accompanying choirs at independent schools in Connecticut and Massachusetts, including the Taft School and Buckingham Browne and Nichols School. She founded the Alamanda Women's Choir and directed the Litchfield County Children's Choir, and continues to work as a clinician with schools and conferences across the country. Her commissions span choirs throughout the United States and internationally.
