About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht brings three decades of experience shaping choral music for educational settings. As Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music, she developed an instinct for what works in rehearsal and what moves an audience. She holds degrees from Rollins College, the University of Miami (both M.A. in Drama and M.M. in Accompanying), and has conducted honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. Since 1987, she has received annual ASCAP Special Music Awards for her compositions.

With over 600 choral publications and 75 musicals and songbooks in print, Albrecht is recognized for her distinctive integration of movement and text. She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College, and currently resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College.
