He has received the ASCAP Composers Standard Award seventeen times and was recognized by the American Choral Directors Association as one of 400 historically significant American choral composers. His published works span choral music, organ, piano, and educational texts through major publishers including Alfred Music, Hal Leonard, and Heritage Music Press.
Why we love this
A madrigal-style piece that actually delivers entertainment value in under thirty seconds is rare. Moore captures genuine charm and humor here, creating something that singers enjoy from first read-through to performance, while giving your program a memorable seasonal opener or closer that audiences love.
What to expect
Witty and unpretentious, delivered with the charm of a madrigal without the complexity. You get genuine musicality and fun compressed into thirty seconds, making it feel both clever and welcoming.
Who it's for
Any choir looking for a quick, low-stress seasonal piece that works in formal concerts, informal community events, and door-to-door caroling alike. The SSA voicing makes it accessible for treble-voice ensembles and upper divisions of mixed choirs.
How to get the most out of it
- Establish clear phrase shaping even within this brief timeframe. The madrigal style invites light articulation and gentle dynamic curves that keep the piece from feeling rushed.
- Treat the a cappella texture as an opportunity for blend work. With no instrumental foundation, balanced vowels and synchronized entrances become instantly audible.
- Adjust the festive character to fit your venue. A madrigal feast calls for playful irreverence; a formal concert might favor elegant restraint.
How to use it
Open a Christmas concert with this to set a warm, approachable tone, or use it as a curtain call encore when you want to send audiences home smiling. It also shines in holiday festivals, community sing-alongs, and madrigal feasts where short, stylish pieces bridge longer works.
Skills your students will build
- Singing a cappella with secure intonation across multiple vocal lines
- Madrigal-style phrasing and articulation
- Quick music memorization
- Blend and balance in treble voicing
