Accent on Ensembles

Teachers return to the Accent on Ensembles, Book 1 part books year after year. The flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, and trombone books have become standards in beginning band curricula. The method's strength lies in its systematic approach to intonation, tone, and ensemble balance across all sections.

Mark Williams was one of the most prolific composers for school bands, with over 200 published works to his credit. He co-authored the Accent on Achievement Band Method and spent decades teaching elementary band in Washington state while serving as a clinician and guest conductor across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia. His approach prioritized building solid fundamentals in young ensemble players.

John O'Reilly partnered with Williams to shape this method into a resource that has served countless beginning band programs. The Accent on Ensembles series remains his most widely adopted work in school music education.
