About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped choral music education for decades through her prolific output of accessible, engaging repertoire. Since 1987, she has received annual ASCAP Special Music Awards, with more than 600 choral publications and 75 large-scale musicals in print. She spent over thirty years as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers, most recently at Alfred Music, while also conducting honor choirs at venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976) and the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979). She has taught music at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees. She resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
