About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over three decades as a composer, conductor, and publisher. Her catalog exceeds 600 choral works and 75 musicals, earning her annual ASCAP Special Music Awards since 1987. She served as Director of School Choral and Vocal Publications for Alfred Music, and has led honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. Her teaching career included faculty positions at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and has been recognized with the Distinguished Alumna Award from both institutions. She chairs the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and received their "Pillar of Leadership" award. She lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband Jay Althouse, also a composer and arranger.
