About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped choral music education for over thirty years, first as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers and later as a sought-after composer and clinician. Her catalog of more than 600 choral works and 75 musicals and songbooks reflects her deep understanding of what works in rehearsal and on stage. An ASCAP Special Music Award recipient since 1987, she has conducted honor choirs at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, and holds degrees from Rollins College, the University of Miami Frost School of Music (both M.A. in Drama and M.M. in Accompanying), bringing theatrical sophistication to everything she writes.

Albrecht is particularly celebrated for integrating movement and staging into choral repertoire, a gift evident throughout her published works. A Cleveland native now based in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse, she has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. In 2021, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami and Rollins College, where she serves on the Board of Trustees.
