About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped choral music education for over three decades, first as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational music publishers, most recently at Alfred Music, and continuing as a prolific composer with more than 600 choral works and 75 larger songbooks and musicals in active publication. An ASCAP Special Music Award recipient annually since 1987, she is recognized equally for her expertise in choral movement and staging; she has conducted honor choirs at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center across the United States.

A graduate of Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976) and the University of Miami Frost School of Music (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), Albrecht has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. She received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami and Rollins College in 2021 and has served as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. She lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina, with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
