Music Tree

Teachers keep returning to The Music Tree: Student's Book, Part 1 and Time to Begin by Frances Clark, paired with their corresponding Activities Books. These titles form the core of the method and remain the most widely adopted volumes in the collection. The progression through Parts 2A, 2B, and beyond gives teachers a complete, coherent path for their students' early years at the piano.

Frances Clark authored the foundational texts that make up the heart of this method. Her work reflects a lifetime of piano pedagogy practice and teacher training, creating a system where musical development and technical skill grow together.

Elvina Pearce studied under Isabelle Vengerova in New York and was herself a student of Frances Clark's pedagogical approach. She taught piano and pedagogy at Northwestern University for 14 years and served as Editor-in-Chief of Keyboard Companion Magazine. Pearce's supplementary pieces, like Solo Flight (for Time to Begin, Part 1), extend the musical repertoire within the method's framework.

Louise Goss and Sam Holland have each contributed substantially to the Music Tree series, with 30 and 29 titles respectively. Both authors have helped expand the method with additional materials that support teachers working across the full elementary range.
