About This Collection

Description

Christine H. Barden, Gayle Kowalchyk, and E. L. Lancaster have built this recital series as a direct extension of Alfred's Music for Little Mozarts preschool piano method. You'll find performance repertoire organized by level, from Music for Little Mozarts: Music Recital Book 1 through Book 4, each designed to give young students achievable material for their first performances. These books pair well with the method itself and give teachers a ready-made recital curriculum that matches where their students are learning.

Highlights

Teachers return to Music for Little Mozarts: Music Recital Book 1 by Barden most often—it sets the foundation for early recital experience with accessible pieces that build confidence. Book 2 and Book 3 follow close behind as students progress, each providing age-appropriate performance material that reinforces what they're learning in the method.

Composer & Author Spotlight

Christine H. Barden is a co-author of the Alfred's Music for Little Mozarts method itself and brings decades of experience teaching preschool piano in Reno, Nevada, where she works with young students in group classes and private lessons. Her background in piano performance from San Francisco State University shapes her understanding of what early pieces actually work in performance settings.

Dr. Gayle Kowalchyk teaches piano pedagogy at California State University, Northridge, and holds degrees in piano performance and pedagogy from Northwestern University and an Ed.D. in piano pedagogy from Columbia University. Her academic work in how young pianists learn directly informs the design of these recital books.

Dr. E. L. Lancaster served as Executive Editor of Piano for Alfred Music and was a professor of piano pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma for nearly two decades. His deep involvement in piano curriculum development at the university level brings institutional rigor to the recital repertoire in this series.
