Why we love this
This arrangement captures the energy of a contemporary pop song while honoring a beloved holiday standard, making it an ideal finale that feels both fresh and familiar. The rhythmic groove and modern production give singers and audiences alike a genuine sense of celebration rather than obligation. Closing a winter concert with this piece signals joy, not duty.
What to expect
Modern and groove-oriented, with the unmistakable sparkle of a familiar holiday melody woven through fresh, pop-styled arrangements. There's an infectious energy here that feels more like a seasonal party anthem than a reverent concert piece.
Who it's for
Directors programming a holiday concert who want a contemporary alternative to traditional carols, and choirs ready to embrace pop-influenced rhythms and modern sound. The SSA and 2-Part voicings make this accessible to younger, developing, or mixed-experience ensembles while remaining engaging for advanced groups.
How to get the most out of it
- Lean into the rhythmic groove throughout; let the SoundTrax recording guide tempo and pocket. The momentum matters more than note-perfect accuracy.
- Shape phrases around the natural speech rhythms rather than conducting strict metric patterns. This pop-styled arrangement rewards a conversational, energetic delivery.
- Balance the incorporated "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" quotations so they land as familiar gestures without overwhelming the original material.
- Use dynamic contrast between ensemble sections and any solos to maintain energy across the full 12-page octavo.
How to use it
Position this as your final selection on a winter concert program to send audiences home in an upbeat, celebratory mood. The recorded accompaniment and contemporary style make it equally effective for holiday pep rallies, community events, or end-of-semester performances where you want to bridge classical and pop sensibilities.
