About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and began her career as a first violinist with the Sydney Youth Orchestra. She has held the position of Director of Strings at Somerville House School in Brisbane since 1993 and served as Principal Viola player with the Queensland Pops Orchestra for more than 25 years, performing alongside world-class artists across chamber and orchestral settings.

Recognized as both an experienced educator and adjudicator, Fin has presented at Australian National Music Conferences and two American National String Teachers' Conferences, and has adjudicated major competitions throughout Australia. She served on the Australian Strings Association committee for over 25 years in roles including State and National President, received a Queensland State Award for her contributions in 2009, and has composed over 100 works for string orchestra published internationally by Alfred Music. In 2015, she began conducting State and National Honours Ensembles Programs in Brisbane. She holds the title of State Advisor for Strings with the Australian Music Examinations Board and was honored with the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching.
