About the Composer: Michael Kamuf

Michael Kamuf earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Jazz Performance and Music Education from the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University and a Master of Arts in Instrumental Conducting from George Mason University. His compositions and arrangements have been recorded by major ensembles including the Woody Herman Orchestra, Glenn Miller Orchestra, USAF Airmen of Note, and soloists such as James Moody, Eddie Daniels, and Sean Jones. He has served as an exclusive writer for the Belwin Division of Alfred Music Publishing, with over 100 publications across jazz, orchestral, and concert band repertoire.

Kamuf spent thirty years teaching instrumental music in Montgomery County Public Schools, serving for twenty-seven years as Director of Bands and Orchestras at John T. Baker Middle School in Damascus, Maryland. Under his leadership, school ensembles earned consistent festival recognition and commissioned works for young concert bands. He currently leads the Mike Kamuf Little Big Band, a jazz octet featuring musicians from the Baltimore and Washington, DC regions.
