About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest brings three decades of classroom experience and a proven track record of writing music that connects with young musicians. His compositions for developing bands have been performed across the country, and his work has reached national audiences through television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and other networks. In 2017, his piece Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) was performed for over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's publishing history spans multiple major houses including Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse Company, The FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications. He co-authored several widely adopted method resources: Measures of Success® (a comprehensive musicianship band method), Warm-ups and Beyond, Rhythms and Beyond, and Chorales and Beyond. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to focus on high-quality compositions and arrangements for band. He holds degrees from Illinois State University (Bachelor of Music Education with high honors) and Northwestern University (Master of Music with program honors) and maintains membership in ASCAP.
