About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest brings three decades of classroom teaching into every score he writes. His compositions for young bands have been performed across the country, and his work has reached national audiences through television appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America, and other network programs. In 2017, his piece Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) was performed for over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Beyond composing, Loest has shaped instrumental pedagogy through his association with widely-used band methods including Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method, Warm-ups and Beyond, and Rhythms and Beyond. His publications span major houses including Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse Company, The FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to publish high-quality compositions and arrangements for band. Loest holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and continues to accept commissions for band music.
