About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht
Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over three decades, most notably during her tenure as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at Alfred Music. A recipient of the ASCAP Special Music Award every year since 1987, she has written more than 600 choral works and 75 larger stage works that remain in active use in schools and festivals nationwide. Her experience conducting honor choirs at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center informs her distinctive understanding of what voices can achieve.
Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A., Music and Theater), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama and M.M. in Accompanying), and has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College. She received the Distinguished Alumna Award from both the University of Miami Frost School of Music and Rollins College in 2021. She collaborates regularly with composer and arranger Jay Althouse and lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
