About the Composer: JaRod Hall
JaRod Hall grew up in Texas and earned degrees in music education from the University of North Texas and Texas State University, where he studied composition under Dr. Michael Ippolito and Dr. Jack Wilds, and conducting with Dr. Nicholas Williams and Dr. Caroline Beatty. A skilled tubist and trombonist, he performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony, the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and served as principal tuba with the Texas State Wind Symphony for two years, while earning four consecutive Texas All-State Band selections (2007-2010).
Hall spent eight years as a band director in the Frisco Independent School District, where his ensembles consistently earned sweepstakes recognition at the University Interscholastic League evaluations. His 2018 non-varsity middle school band made history by becoming the first in Frisco to earn the State Citation of Excellence. His compositions have appeared on the Texas Prescribed Music List, the Pepper "Editor's Choice" list, and Bandworld's Top 100; his brass fanfare "Silver Fanfare" won the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares, and "Through the Storm" earned the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for middle school band.
