About the Composer: JaRod Hall

JaRod Hall

JaRod Hall brings the perspective of a working educator to every score he writes. Trained at the University of North Texas and Texas State University under conductors Nicholas Williams and Caroline Beatty, he spent eight years building successful band programs in Texas, where his students earned consistent sweepstakes awards and his 2018 Griffin Middle School ensemble became the first non-varsity band in Frisco ISD to win the state Citation of Excellence. As a tubist and trombonist, he performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony, the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and Texas State's wind ensembles, and he was a four-time Texas All-State Band member, capping his high school years as principal tuba.

His compositions have earned recognition across multiple platforms: his work appears on the Texas Prescribed Music List, J.W. Pepper's Editor's Choice selections, and the Bandworld Top 100. His brass piece "Silver Fanfare" won the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares, and his middle school concert band work "Through the Storm" received the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize. Hall writes with the ear of someone who knows what works in rehearsal and what resonates with young musicians.
