Gordon Goodwin has been composing since childhood, writing complete arrangements rather than fragments by age five. His first big band chart appeared at thirteen, launching a career that would eventually earn him three Emmy Awards and multiple Grammy nominations for work spanning television, film, and concert music. His orchestrations have graced soundtracks including Bad Boys II, Enemy of the State, Remember the Titans, and Star Trek: Nemesis, while he has written for artists ranging from Christina Aguilera and Quincy Jones to Ray Charles and Sarah Vaughn.

In 2000, Goodwin founded Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, establishing himself as both bandleader and composer for one of Los Angeles' most celebrated jazz ensembles. The band's recordings have received Grammy recognition, with their debut album making history as the first commercially available DVD audio release. Today, Goodwin continues to balance his work as a conductor with major orchestras, a prolific film and television composer, and the creative force behind Big Phat Band.
