• Study the original recording before tackling the TAB. Phrasing, tone, and dynamics are embedded in those performances; notation alone won't capture them.
• Pay attention to the string assignments in the TAB. Many of these arrangements use specific voicings that create the signature sound of each piece.
• Work slowly through the dynamic changes and tempo shifts. Rock ballads live and breathe in their restraint and release.
