About the Composer: Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht has shaped American choral music for over four decades as a composer, conductor, and clinician with particular expertise in movement-integrated choral performance. Her catalog includes more than 600 choral publications alongside 75 musicals and songbooks; she has received the ASCAP Special Music Award annually since 1987 and conducted honor choirs at major venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center. For thirty-plus years she served as Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications at major educational publishers, most recently Alfred Music, while teaching at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College.

Albrecht holds degrees from Rollins College (B.A. in Music and Theater, 1976), the University of Miami (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979), and has been recognized with the Omicron Delta Kappa "Pillar of Leadership" award and Distinguished Alumna Awards from both Rollins College and the University of Miami Frost School of Music. She resides in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
