About the Composer: Martha Mier

Martha Mier has been composing and publishing educational piano music since joining Alfred Music in 1989, earning recognition as one of today's most prolific voices in piano pedagogy. Her works span multiple series and styles, from Jazz, Rags & Blues to Romantic Impressions, and have been selected repeatedly for the National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival Bulletin. A Florida State University graduate and lifelong member of Sigma Alpha Iota, she maintains active credentials through the Music Teachers National Association, the Florida State Music Teachers Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers.

Mier brings decades of teaching experience to her compositions, having maintained a private piano studio for many years while serving as a professional accompanist and church musician. She is a frequent clinician and adjudicator who has conducted workshops internationally in Australia and New Zealand as well as at major conferences including the Music Teachers National Association Convention, the National Piano Teachers Institute, and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference. She co-authored Alfred's Premier Piano Course and has published more than 200 educational works.
