About the Arranger: Patsy Ford Simms
Patsy Ford Simms began her publishing career in 1981 and has since created over 300 songs for educational and church settings, working with major publishing houses including Shawnee Press. Her prolific output grew directly from her classroom experience: during her early years teaching, she found a significant shortage of appropriate choral literature for junior high and middle school singers, so she started writing and arranging to fill that need.
Simms holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Knoxville College, a Master of Education from the University of Louisville, and a doctorate in Music Education from Columbia Pacific University. She taught for 30 years across grades K-12 and at the Youth Performing Arts School before retiring from full-time classroom work. Her contributions to music education have earned national recognition; she has served as a clinician and presenter internationally, including in Italy and Africa. Two of her compositions were selected for MENC World's Largest Concerts, and she has received numerous ASCAP Special Music Awards. Her commissioned works include short musicals exploring African American history.
