About the Composer: Roland Barrett
Roland Barrett serves on the faculty at the University of Oklahoma, where he teaches music theory and composition with a focus on 20th-century topics at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He brings two decades of practical experience to his teaching, having worked as Assistant Director of Bands before joining the university faculty in 2001. Barrett continues to arrange music for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band while maintaining an active compositional practice.
As a nationally recognized composer and arranger, Barrett has published over two hundred works for symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching band. His compositions have been performed by the Dallas Wind Symphony and featured at major conventions including the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention and the International Trumpet Guild convention. He is a multiple recipient of the ASCAP Plus award, recognizing his significant contributions to the field.
