About the Composer: Kris Berg

Kris Berg leads the jazz studies program at Collin County Community College in Texas, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. His work as a composer and arranger has circulated internationally; his big band charts are published through Belwin Jazz (Alfred Publishing) and have been performed and recorded across the globe. He founded and directs both the Collin Jazz Fest and the Texas All-Star Jazz Camp, and under his leadership, Collin's jazz ensembles have earned multiple invitations to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival.

Beyond the classroom and festival circuit, Berg maintains an active performance schedule as a clinician and artist for Yamaha Corporation of America, sharing the stage with accomplished jazz musicians including Kurt Elling, Randy Brecker, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, and Clark Terry. He authored the instructional resource Bass Lines in Minutes and is endorsed by Walter Woods Amplifiers. His dual identity as educator, performer, and prolific writer gives his compositions a grounded understanding of what works in the ensemble room.
